National Child and Youth Protection Audits

Since 2002 the Diocese of San Diego participates in annual audits conducted by the National Secretariat for Child and Youth Protection in compliance with the directives of the Charter for the Protection of Children & Young People. Each year since 2002, the Diocese has been found to be compliant. Most recent letters of compliance can be found here.

The national office has recently transitioned to a process that involves annual statistical report audits and triannual on-site audits. During each on-site audit, auditors review clergy, personnel and program files, and interview a selection of diocesan directors, pastors, personnel at schools and parishes, and members of the Independent Review Board to verify the proper implementation of our Safe Environment Program policies and procedures.
